Stress seems to be a major factor in the early onset of grey hair, as demonstrated by a 2020 study conducted on mice, which showed that when the mice were in 'fight or flight' mode, their fur greyed more quickly. The study published in Nature showed that when the body is under stress, the brain releases norepinephrine, which damages melanin-producing stem cells.
